How RufUs Helps the Homeless

Homelessness can & does happen to anyone

Anyone can fall victim to homelessness. For example, victims of domestic violence, the unemployed, mental disability as well as other reasons too numerous to mention.

RufUs works closely with many other charities/organizations that find housing accommodation for their clients. RufUs fits out the dwelling with essential furniture and items needed by their clients as they begin their new start to life.

Apart from our scheduled deliveries and pickups, we never quite know how the day we'll go at the warehouse for Rufus. Yesterday was a good example of this.
We had some lovely people from the Knit4Charity organisation, who dropped off some beautiful hand knitted throw rugs. We now have some lovely throws to add to our orders, particularly those families with children.
Shortly after that we were contacted by a social worker who was in urgent need of a bar fridge freezer to assist her client who is at home but receiving palliative care.
At very short notice we were able to provide both a bar fridge and a freezer which was collected and delivered yesterday as well.
It always leaves us feeling good when we are able to assist people, especially when the need is urgent.

When this happens, it's usually because the owner only shared it with a small group of people, changed who can see it or it's been deleted.
