How RufUs Helps the Homeless

Homelessness can & does happen to anyone

Anyone can fall victim to homelessness. For example, victims of domestic violence, the unemployed, mental disability as well as other reasons too numerous to mention.

RufUs works closely with many other charities/organizations that find housing accommodation for their clients. RufUs fits out the dwelling with essential furniture and items needed by their clients as they begin their new start to life.

As you may know, that as well as providing furniture and whitegoods, we also make up kitchen and bedding packs to round out the items for a household. Recently we have supported a number of large families, who have needed bedding, particularly doonas and although the warehouse is well stocked with furniture, we have almost run out of doonas and other bedding items like single sheets and doona covers. At about this time last year, a similar thing happened and we asked our Facebook community to "Donate a Dollar for a Doona" and we successfully raised enough money to fill up our van with doonas of all sizes. This meant that we were then able to provide a doona to everyone we supported last winter. We are doing the same again this year. The pics with this post show the last of our bedding being packed for delivery. If you or

This week at Rufus, we know, that we made three little brothers not pnly more comfortable, but a little happier as well.
We just happened to have had three scooters, that were in need of a new home, so we found them a new home as well as brightened up a few little faces. Sometimes it's the little things that bring the biggest smiles.
By doing what we do, at Rufus we don't just deliver a fresh start we also deliver dignity.
It certainly feels good to know that people's lives are improved due to the support of Rufus Charity and the community.
Will be back to do it all over again next week.

Undercover but not unnoticed. This week we have had a taste of rain during our packing and delivery times but luckily we have been able to pack the vehicle undercover of the warehouse to ensure that everything was kept dry and arrived dry as well. As our warehouse is very full, we are able to provide many items to the people we are currently supporting. This week we were able to support a family of five who lost everything they owned in a fire. We were able to provide a fridge, washing machine, dining table and chairs, queen size beds, double beds, and all the bedding to go with it. A dressing table, coffee table, bedside tables, couch, study desk and chair and many other items. When the delivery drivers returned at the end of the day, they said that the mother of this household was so incredibly grateful and

Load after load, out it goes. We have been very busy since our last post, delivering furniture and household items to the vulnerable and needy of Adelaide and suburbs, Sometimes we assist large families and are able to provide almost everything they need. Other times we hear about and support a young homeless person who has found a share house and need only a bed and mattress, bedside table and lamp and bedding, Whether the delivery is big or small we do it all!! Our warehouse is completely full and we have had to put a hold on any further donations or pickups until mid June at this stage.. We thank everyone for their kind donations and are hoping to be able to accept donations again soon. I would also like to thank all the people who like, share and comment on our page, as it is good to get
